There is no recent Polish history without Solidarity, nor is there without the Gdansk Shipyard. It was here, in what was once one of the largest shipyards in the world, that the most important strikes of communist Poland took place, where the Inter-Union Strike Committee united Poles under the banner of Solidarity.
Our walk takes you through the post-shipyard areas, important historical sites such as; the Fallen Shipyard Workers Monument, the European Solidarity Center, the BHP Hall and other areas of the historic part of Shipyards A and B. We will talk about the history of the place (not only the communist era), but also about the present and how the area is changing today.
We can extend our walk with a visit to the European Solidarity Center and the BHP Hall.
